陈情令 | The Untamed Guide
A Guide to
Chen Qing Ling / The Untamed
This guide is a brief introduction to the genre terms and concepts of Chinese xianxia fantasy, and to supply character reminders.
These reminders are major spoiler free, and reflect what is known about the characters up to that point.
This guide was started in part because looking up character information is a challenge when first starting the show due to not knowing the character names, as well as the ease of coming across major spoilers through other websites, like the Mo Dao Zu Shi fandom wiki.
The character reminders are broken down by episode and by story arc, and are generally in order of character appearance. In addition to the character's names and general information, they may contain a short summation of what they're up to or any recent new information at that point.
Where can I watch
The Untamed?
The Untamed is available on Netflix, Viki, Youtube and Amazon Video, however the translation varies between all of them.
While the Netflix translation has some flaws, Netflix is likely the most accessible version (the video is also better quality)
However, the Viki translation is more accurate. Additionally, Viki is free, but with commercials, though a commercial-free subscription is available that is worth considering if you are interested in K- and C-dramas. Viki also has the two spin off movies (Fatal Journey and The Living Dead), but requires the subscription to view them.
YouTube or Amazon Video is only recommended if the other sites are not an option.
Start here if you are brand new to the xianxia genre, and for more information about the source material for
