Energetic and mischievous. Doesn't care much for rules. ​He's also very intelligent and inventive, despite his seemingly easy-going attitude.

An orphan, he was raised by Jiang Fengmian, who treats him like his own child. He's devoted to his adoptive siblings, Jiang Cheng and Yanli, and would do anything for them. ​

​

When they were hostages of the Wen clan, he stuck his neck out on several occasions to protect Lan Wangji, which has put him on Wen Chao's radar. In the cave, his actions culminated in taking Wen Chao hostage in order to save Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan from being killed as they tried to protect Mian Mian. 

 

He found a sword with strong resentful energy, and used that energy to kill Xuanwu, though it made him ill in the process.

Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian’s older sister. 

 

She’s shy and not a particularly good cultivator, but she’s a really good sister. She just wants to have her family all be happy and together. Expresses affection via soup.

​

She had been engaged in an arranged marriage to Jin Zixuan, and seems to have genuine feelings for him, though he was conflicted about the situation. However, their engagement was called off when he and Wei Wuxian came to blows. 

The youngest of the Yunmeng siblings; he and Wei Wuxian are adopted brothers; Lanyi is his biological sister.

Heir to the Yungmeng Jiang sect. He's trying very hard to learn the skills he needs to be a good leader in the future, but he's frustrated and hurt by the fact that Wei Wuxian is clearly his father's favorite, and that his own accomplishments- like rescuing Wei Wuxian from the cave- go unnoticed.

When they were hostages to the Wen clan, he strongly felt that they need to keep their heads down and focus on keeping themselves safe- advice that Wei Wuxian did not take.

Wife of Jiang Fengmian, mother of Jiang Cheng and Yanli.

A skilled cultivator from an important family, she's assertive and critical.

 

She's concerned by her husband's favoritism towards Wei Wuxian, whom she doesn't seem to care for very much. She is especially hard on her son, and often negatively compares his abilities to abilities to Wei Wuxian's. She's also concerned that Wei Wuxian's actions will get their clan into serious trouble some day.

Owner of Zidian.

Leader of the Yunmeng Jiang clan. Father of Jiang Cheng and Yanli.

A calm and caring man, the other clan leaders seem to value his input.

​

He took in Wei Wuxian after the death of his parents, and treats him like his own child. In fact, some might argue he treats him better than his own son, as he's seems to favor him over Jiang Cheng, a fact that is not lost on his son. This has lead to rumors that Wei Wuxian is actually his biological child. 

​

Leader of a small clan, the Wens have killed most of its members after his disciples managed to escape form the cave of Xuanyu. 

 

They go to the Jiang clan for aid. 
 

Formerly a servant of Wen Chao's wife, her good looks lead to her becoming his mistress. 

​

Petty and arrogant, she enjoys commanding others despite being a servant herself. 

​

Back in the cave of the Tortoise of Slaughter, she had suggested that Mian Mian be used as bait for the monster, which lead to Wei Wuxian taking Wen Chao as a hostage in order to save Lan Wangji and Jin Zixuan from being killed as they tried to protect Mian Mian.

​

Wen Chao's bodyguard, currently assigned to keep Wang Lingjiao safe. 

 

The strong, silent type, he's stoic and mild-mannered, and seems to show a surprising amount of respect for his opponents, despite working closely with Wen Chao. 

​

He knows Yu Ziyuan.

The younger son of Wen Ruohan, he’s arrogant and sadistic.

 

He thinks it’s only natural for everyone else to recognize the power of the Wen clan, and by extension, himself. Despite this, he’s fairly incompetent personally, relying on others to get things done. 

​

Doesn’t trust Wen Qing, and the feeling is mutual.

Wen Qing's younger brother.

He has health issues as a result of having some of his soul taken by the Dancing Fairy statue when he was a child, and a shutter.

 

He’s shy and nervous, but very loyal and willing to stand up for those he loves. He's especially loyal to Wei Wuxian because of the kindness he showed towards him when they were in Gusu. He still carries the protective pouch that Wei Wuxian made for him.

Wen Ning's older sister, she's a gifted doctor.

She's now also in charge of the Wen Supervisory Office in Yiling. 

"Close friends" with Xiao Xingchen, he was blinded by Xue Yang in an effort to hurt Xiao Xingchen in revenge.

​

Although was was blinded, his vision is now restored thanks to Xiao Xingchen, who disappeared afterwards.  

​

Although he was apprehended by Xiao Xingchen and imprisoned by Nie Mingjue, he escaped when the Wens attacked the Unclean Realm.

​

He seems to be a bit obsessed with Xiao Xingchen, and harms people connected to him.

"Close friends" with Song Lan, captured Xue Yang at the Chang Manor in an attempt to bring him to justice. 

​

Marital uncle to Wei Wuxian. 

​

When Song Lan was blinded by Xue Yang, he violated his oath to Boshan Sanren to never to return, and brought Song Lan to her, hoping that she could restore his sight. In the process, he gave his own eyes to Song Lan, so he is now blind himself.

An immortal, she lives in seclusion in the Mountains of Yiling with other immortals, as well as abandoned children whom she has taken in as her disciples.

 

Wanting to remain apart from the rest of the cultivation world, should her disciples chose to leave the mountain, they can never return. Only three have ever chosen this course of action, including Wei Wuxian's mother Cangse Sanren, and Xiao Xingchen.

As someone who as cultivated to immortality, she is immensely powerful, and can perform miraculous feats.
