He is either in his original body or one that looks like it- he does not look like Mo Xuanyu, which is why he wears the mask around people who might recognize the former Yiling Laozu.

 

Both Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji looked for his body and his soul after his death, without success.

He's terrified of dogs.

He thinks there may be a connection between the Yin Iron, the sword ghost, and his resurrection. 

In the years since Wei Wuxian's death, Lan Wangji has become a respected figure in the cultivation world. The younger Lan disciples especially look up to him.

 

However, his back is  now covered in wiping scars, which means that he committed a terrible transgression against the Lan clan's rules to receive such a punishment.

For some reason, he seems to be drawn to "Mo Xuanyu", and shares that he feels safe whenever Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are around.

He and the rest of the "juniors" are in Yi City because they were lead there by a strange series of circumstances. It seems like someone was leading them to meet up with Lang Wangji and Wei Wuxian in Yi City.

He was taught Inquiry by Lan Wangji, and is considered to be very good at it, if not at the same level of skill as Lan Wangji.

Straightforward and careless, he tends to speak what's on his mind, whether it's socially acceptable or not.​

Son of the Ouyang clan leader; friends with the young Lan disciples.

15 year old son of Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan. Raised jointly by his uncles Jin Guangyao and Jiang Cheng.

Bad tempered and arrogant, he's also got a chip on his shoulder about being an orphan. He hates Wei Wuxian because of his role in his parents deaths.

 

Knows Mo Xuanyu from his time at Jinlin Tai. He now doesn't think Wei Wuxian is Mo Xuanyu, but thinks his uncle is wrong about his identity. ​

His dog is named Fairy (Xianzi), and is a spiritual dog, so it's more intelligent than a regular dog, and is able to sense danger. 

Although the story was that he had been executed along with his sister 16 years prior, he was actually kept prisoner by the Jin clan for some reason- and someone put nails made of Yin Iron into his head, blocking his consciousness and making him completely controllable.

He's still devoted to Wei Wuxian, and feels very guilty about the role he played leading up to Wei Wuxian's death.

The same ghost-faced man that attacked Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian back at the inn has also shown up in Yi City. 

​

There's clearly some connection with what's going on in Yi City, and the larger conspiracy. 

Wei Wuxian and the juniors are being followed by a ghost who is blind and cannot speak, but clearly wants to tell them something.

​

Since she is unable to be contacted using Inquiry, Wei Wuxian decides to communicate using Empathy, which will allow him to experience whatever it was that she experienced. 

​

Formerly a cultivator from the Baixue Temple, which was exterminated by Xue Yang in his revenge plot against Xiao Xingcheng.

​​

Had been close with Xiao Xingchen, who gave up his eyes for him after Song Lan was blinded by Xue Yang. The two argued afterwards, and separated. Song Lan had been looking for him since, though he himself had gone missing.

​

It now appears that the reason for his disappearance is that someone turned him into a Fierce Corpse 

Former disciple of Boshan Sanren; martial bother to Cangse Sanren, making him Wei Wuxian's martial uncle. Although Wei Wuxian only met him once, he seems to have left a deep impression on him.

​

Had been close with Song Lang. 16 years ago, he had persuaded Boshan Sanren to give his eyes to Song Lan after Song Lan was blinded by Xue Yang as part of his revenge plot targeting Xiao Xingchen. The two argued afterwards, and went their separate ways. He has been missing ever since, but his sword was used to murder Chang Ping.

His famous sword is named Shuanghua ("frost flower").

He tells Wei Wuxian he has a friend who is an “even better actor than he is"

He’s in possession of someone’s broken soul that he is desperate for Wei Wuxian to repair. 

​

The ghost girl from Yi City Wei Wuxian is communicating with was named A-Qing.

​

10 years ago, she was living on the streets and pretending to be blind in order to garner sympathy, and to have people let their guards down around her to make themselves easier marks. 

​

She was protective of Xiao Xingchen, and correctly recognized that Xue Yang is dangerous.

Blind and separated from Song Lan, Xiao Xingchen wandered around, continuing to live up to his ideals of protecting innocents. His sword's ability to detect corpse energy enabled him to still suppress monsters and the undead despite his blindness.

Despite A-Qing's warnings, he continued to trust Xue Yang, and allowed him to live with them in the Coffin House in Yi City. 

Left for dead after some enemies caught up to him, he was saved by chance by Xiao Xingchen and quickly worked to ingratiate himself.

However, he hadn't let go of his grudge against Xiao Xingchen and other “moral” cultivators like him, and was manipulating Xiao Xingchen into killing innocents by poisoning them with corpse power and cutting out their tongues (Xiao Xingchen’s sword can detect corpse energy but cannot tell the difference between the poisoned living and the actual undead). 

​

Despite this, Xue Yang seemed to have fallen in love with Xiao Xingchen in his own way, and was completely devastated when his actions lead to his death. Xiao Xingchen's soul is the one that he is desperate for Wei Wuxian to repair 

​

Ever since he and Xiao Xingchen separated, he was trying to find him.

​

Eight years ago, he managed to track him down to Yi City. Unfortunately, he decided to confront Xue Yang first. 

​

His sword is named Fuxue, and its name is engraved on the blade. (Netflix translates this as "snow flick" - fu means "to brush away" and xue is "snow")
