陈情令 | The Untamed Guide
Episodes 35-36
The Characters
Wei Wuxian
Wei Ying
Now resurrected by Mo Xuanyu after being dead for many years.
He is either in his real body or one that looks like- he does not look like Mo Xuanyu, which is why he wears the mask around people who might recognize the former Yiling Laozu. Both Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji looked for his body and his soul after his death, without success.
He's terrified of dogs.
Ghost Faced Man
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji have attracted someone's attention, as they're attacked by someone who is hiding their identity. They seem to be familiar with Lan swordsmanship.
Lan Sizhui
Lan Yuan
Teenaged Lan disciple. Friends with Lan Jingyi. An orphan, he was raised by Lan Wangji.
Compassionate, thoughtful, and responsible.
For some reason, he seems to be drawn to "Mo Xuanyu".
Lan Wangji
Lan Zhan
Title: Hanguang Jun
In the years since Wei Wuxian's death, Lan Wangji has become a respected figure in the cultivation world. The younger Lan disciples especially look up to him. However, his back is now covered in wiping scars, which means that he committed a terrible transgression against the Lan clan's rules to receive such a punishment.
Wen Ning
Although the story was that he had been executed along with his sister 16 years prior, he was actually kept prisoner by the Jin clan for some reason- and someone put nails made of Yin Iron into his head, blocking his consciousness and making him completely controllable.
He's still devoted to Wei Wuxian, and feels very guilty about the role he played leading up to Wei Wuxian's death.
Lan Jingyi
Teenaged Lan disciple. Friends with Lan Sizhui.
Straightforward and careless, he tends to speak what's on his mind, whether it's socially acceptable or not.
Nie Huaisang
Wei Wuxian's school buddy is now the leader of the Nie clan since his brother's death a few years ago.
His nervous and indecisive demeanor seems to only have gotten worse with his new position, and is known for his constant refrain of "I don't know".
Jin Ling
Jin Rulan
15 year old son of Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan. Raised jointly by his uncles Jin Guangyao and Jiang Cheng.
Bad tempered and arrogant, he's also got a chip on his shoulder about being an orphan. He hates Wei Wuxian because of his role in his parents deaths. He now doesn't think Wei Wuxian is Mo Xuanyu, but thinks his uncle is wrong about his identity.
His dog is named Fairy (Xianzi), and is a spiritual dog, so it's more intelligent than a regular dog, and is able to sense danger.
Ouyang Zichen
Son of the Ouyang clan leader; friends with the young Lan disciples.
Sentimental and emotional.
Places, People and Things mentioned
Nie Mingjue
Nie Huaisang's older brother, the former Red Blade Master seems to have died from a qi-deviation, presumably because of the power of his own blade. However, his body is missing.
Jin Guangshan
The now-deceased power-hungry Jin Clan leader used his position to protect Xue Yang (which all but confirms that Xue Yang knows something about the Yin Iron and the Yin Hufu, which Jin Guangshan was very eager to get his hands on)
Song Lan
Formerly a cultivator from the Baixue Temple, which was exterminated by Xue Yang in his revenge plot against Xiao Xingcheng.
Had been close with Xiao Xingchen, who gave up his eyes for him after Song Lan was blinded by Xue Yang. The two argued afterwards, and separated. Song Lan has been looking for him since, though he himself has now gone missing.
Chang Clan
16 years ago, this minor cultivation clan was brutally wiped out by Xue Yang for an unknown reason before he was apprehended by Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan.
While the rest of the cultivation world wanted Xue Yang executed for his crime, the case against him fell apart when the only remaining clan member Chang Ping withdrew his witness statement... and then turned up dead, having been killed by lingchi using Xiao Xingchen's sword.
Jin Guangyao
Title: Lianfang Zun
Current leader of the Jin clan and Chief Cultivator.
Illegitimate son of Jin Guangshan; uncle to Jin Ling.
Member of the Venerated Triade, along with Lan Xichen and Nie Mingjue.
Xue Yang
Last we saw of him 16 years ago, he'd been taken into custody by Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan after massacring the Chang clan, but he escaped from the Nie prison during the Wen attack.
Lan Wangji shares that afterwards, he showed up at Jinlin Tai and received the protection of Jin Guangshan and evaded punishment for the murder of the Chang clan.
When Jin Guangshan died and Jin Guangyao became the clan leader, Xue Yang disappeared again.
Xiao Xingchen
Former disciple of Boshan Sanren; martial bother to Cangse Sanren, making him Wei Wuxian's martial uncle. Although Wei Wuxian only met him once, he seems to have left a deep impression on him.
Had been close with Song Lang. 16 years ago, he had persuaded Boshan Sanren to give his eyes to Song Lan after Song Lan was blinded by Xue Yang as part of his revenge plot targeting Xiao Xingchen. The two argued afterwards, and went their separate ways. He has been missing ever since, but his sword was used to murder Chang Ping.
His famous sword is named Shuanghua ("frost flower") and it can detect corpse energy.
